Notice that the headline is about the refugees, doesn’t mention the slaughter that they are fleeing.
You have to read way into the story to find that.

I can make the attacks look like they're coming from your IP. IP spoofing isn't that hard to do.

Important part:

IP address spoofing is most frequently used in denial of service attacks where the objective is to flood the target with an overwhelming volume of traffic, and the attacker does not care about receiving responses to the attack packets.
