On Orthodoxy

Is anyone going to watch the video and comment on the near absolute certainty that Orthodox Church liturgy is essentially a carbon copy of 2nd temple worship from the layouts of the churches down to the vestment of their priests?

Commentary on the efficacy or validity of their beliefs wasn’t the point of this thread.

Hi, welcome to the internet! I see you're new around here! ;)

Or stick to the random comments thread where nothing is connected.

Which is why so many don’t bother to stick around.

If y’all want your own diatribes and rabbit trails, I guess direct messages would be better.

You have control issues. People are not puppets who will do what you want. You can guide a conversation or a topic but if you want to dictate terms you will encounter people who will entertain themselves at your expense.

@MeganC and @Mark C, @Mojo is simply trying to discuss a topic and getting frustrated by people insisting on talking about something else. It is entirely reasonable to ask for a thread to stay on topic. You yourself @Mark C have very frequently complained about this very problem when you post one of your own links - people talking about other stuff rather than listening to and commenting on what was posted. Don't be a hypocrite and complain about @Mojo making the exact same point.

And he is completely correct here:

Everyone claims that their liturgy is handed down from second temple; including the Anglicans. It’s unfalsifiable speculation on every count.

Wasn’t aware of the Anglicans. That’s interesting.

Is it unfalsifiable, though? I’ll admit that a huge portion of the Eucharistic liturgy does seem to follow the OT sacrificial rites.

That wasn't the point I was addressing...as I am pretty sure you realize. ;)

It is unfalsifiable. We don’t have that detailed of a description of these things. Everyone has to claim that their liturgy is rooted in tradition. It’s fine, I don’t think it’s a big deal but I’ve never seen compelling proof that it’s true.

Fair enough. I don’t have a dog in the “who’s got the legitimate church liturgy”.

But do you see any similarities to OT sacrificial rites?

I presume you were referring to Torah observance.

Any commentary on how much these Orthodox practices align with any Torah passsges?
